Every day I look in the mirror I see my panda eyes and say to myself, ” So like, Oogway, was just a crazy old turtle after all? :p Well, my battle with dark circles has made me wanna amp up the products used with stronger formulations. I purchased the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Skin Activating Ferment Eye Essence a month ago. I have been using it ever since and my experience turned out to be a rather amazing one.

Little over 6 months ago, Loreal relaunched the ‘Youth Code’ range. I was pretty thrilled due to the fact the Youth Code range wasn’t discontinued. Loreal not only revamped the packaging but also made changes to the formulations. If you keep in touch with the ongoing trends in Japan, Korea, Singapore etc, you may already be aware of how big the trend is of using fermented products for skincare. Now that I am in my mid 20’s I have started including a few anti-aging products into my skin care.

Before purchasing this product I stalked the internet hoping to find some good reviews. To my surprise, people were raving about this new Youth Code range. In this range, we get the ferment eye essence and ferment skin essence. Basically, they are just an eye serum and face serum. Today I will be reviewing the eye serum. I have way too many fine lines around my eyes. Also, the dark circles just won’t leave me. Read on to know how the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Skin Activating Ferment Eye Essence fared for me………

Claims:-

While watching one of the videos released by Loreal, I came across the tried and tested video. The video contained a detailed description of the product and the scientist made really huge claims. He claimed that this product claims to reduce eye puffiness, fine lines around the eyes and help treat with dark circles.  One of the claims also includes that this provides an 80 percent hydration boost.  Loreal also claims that the ferment essence used in this is extracted at 98% purity which means that the effectiveness of the product is maintained. This also means that it is a comparatively stronger formulation than the previous eye essence.

My Experience: –

I decided to go ahead with the eye serum only. When I first got the product, I was so overwhelmed by the black classy packaging. The eye essence comes in a beautiful glass bottle which is black in color. Apart from the bottle, another additional feature is the applicator. The tip of the applicator has 3 roll- on icy beads(as what Loreal calls them). I am going to stick to calling them ‘Silver Balls’ 😛 . The tip is flexible enough to reach the inner sockets of the eyes.

While most eye creams/serums are living in 2005, I genuinely feel that this Loreal one is living in 2018. I mean what an amazing hi-tech feature of flexible massage silver balls. The first time I applied the product, I didn’t read the instructions of scraping off excess product from the silver balls. I ended up applying way too much and the essence would not even sink in.  However, after wiping off the excess, the remaining product got absorbed immediately.

Coming to its consistency, the essence has a gel-like non-sticky formulation. It feels soothing on application. Also, it has a good absorbency rate.  It doesn’t make the eye area oily. This can be a good boon for oily skin beauties. Its been over a month now and I do feel a difference with my under eye area. While I notice a reduction in eye fatigue, I have also noticed a brightening effect. It has slightly managed to change the undertone of my eyes. I am so glad to have tried this product. Its effectiveness is as per the claims. With continued usage, I bet this product will do a lot better. Since I use it only once,  the difference in my eye area is remarkable.

I also use this as an eye primer. It makes the eye area supple smooth and silky. Its just perfect beneath eye make. Lastly the level of hydration this essence is also amazing as I suffer from extremely dry skin.

Pros:-

  • Classy packaging
  • A unique feature of icy beads
  • Very Hydrating
  • Removes fatigue around eyes
  • Does make skin oily
  • Gets absorbed super fast
  • Lightweight
  • Helps reduce fine lines
  • Makes eye area brighter
  • Helps reduce puffiness
  • Acts like a primer
  • Silky supple skin post application

Cons:-

  • None

My Rating:– 5/5

If you are experimental with your skin care like me,  do add this to your list. I am sure most of you will like the effect from day 1 itself.
