We have a new cosmetic launch around town and it’s by none other than StudioWest. If you have never heard of Studiowest, then head over to your nearest Westside stores across India. Westside has not only launched their set of body care but also a bunch of makeup products. I tried almost all the makeup they had at the store. Since I already own a lot of makeup, I decided to not buy any makeup. They have eyeshadows, blushes, compacts, lip lacquers, nail paints, matte lip creams etc. However, from the entire makeup range, I did come across an amazing find. This product was none other than the shimmer stick.
As per my knowledge, I have never ever come across an Indian brand with a shimmer stick that looks like a lipstick. I was really intrigued to buy it and try it. So today’s post will be about my experience with the shimmer stick. Lastly, I forgot to mention that the price range of these cosmetics is pretty reasonable in the range of Rs 300 to Rs 900.

My Experience STUDIO WEST SHIMMER STICK IN DAZZLE:-
Honestly, I don’t really like highlighters that much. It looks great on camera but in real life, if you wear it on a daily basis, you may end up looking like a sweaty clown. To make things worse, the weather in Mumbai right now is unbearable to wear heavy makeup. So to avoid the fake dewy look, I just skip highlighters altogether. The SA at the Westside was honestly so cute. She convinced me enough to go in for the shimmer stick. This will also be my first time trying out a shimmer stick. The shimmer sticks come in 3 varieties, I decided to pick up the one in Dazzle. I can’t remember the names of the other shades but basically, they come in 3 tones ie the Gold, Rose Gold and Bronze.I picked up the shade Dazzle which is a nice Rose Gold color.
The packaging is similar to a lipstick. The highlighter comes in the exact shape as that of a lipstick bullet. Also what I really like about the packaging is that it doesn’t look trashy like those cheap flimsy lippies. Since it is a shimmer stick, one would expect it to have gritty glitter particles in it. But this is actually a smooth creamy formulation having really fine glitter. The glitter particles are almost nonexistent to feel. The first time I swatched the product under the heavenly store lights, I was amazed at how bright the glitter was. Since rose gold suits my medium skin tone very well, it looked all the greater.
The highlighter has a strong chocolate fragrance which kind of bothers me at first but since it fades away post application, I don’t mind it. Coming to the texture, the highlighter is extremely smooth to apply. It just a slight swipe and Vola, you are left with glittery bright skin. It applies evenly without any tugging and pulling. The creamy texture is such a great boon for my overly dry skin. The highlighter seems to moisturize my skin. I don’t think this highlighter will be apt for oily skin beauties as it may seem a tad too heavy.
The lasting power of the highlighter is actually great. It lasts for about 4-5 hours after which the glitter particles begin to travel and transfer on to other parts of the skin/objects. Also, the products are super blendable and get even with the skin texture. With so much good for the price, I forgot to mention the actual cons about the shimmer stick. First off it does not come with a description which makes it hard for people at the counter to figure out the purpose of the product. Secondly, the list of ingredients is not mentioned anywhere, neither on the carton or product. If you follow a ban parabens routine, then you will definitely not understand if this product contains parabens.
Overall I am very impressed with STUDIO WEST SHIMMER STICK IN DAZZLE. One can get really creative and use this shimmer stick not only highlighter but also for various other purposes. If you are on a budget then you can invest in one of these beauties and use it as a multipurpose product. The only thing I really wished was if they were transparent enough with the ingredient list.
